Our Programs

At WSSI, you will be trained in basic and advanced diving knowledge as well as the standards and practices of the PADI system, NAUI system, SID/TDI/ERDI system. You will gain vast experience in a variety of dive situations and environments. For further information regarding which training you can receive and where we dive, please refer to our course catalog.

FIT Program

This program takes a zero experienced diver and trains them in the knowledge and skills needed to manage risks and effectively handle limited problems in the water and diving emergencies. Included are assists, transports, surface rescues and rescues from depth involving both boat- and shore-based skin and scuba divers. The Rescue Divers portion is a requirement for employment at dive centers, dive resorts, public dive sites or public and private aquariums in Tennessee. Additionally, this program is to qualify the diver in the skills and knowledge necessary to perform as a training assistant during diver training sessions. This program concludes when students are given knowledge, water skill and other performance evaluations, critiques, and counseling to ensure they are aware of their state of preparedness for continued leadership training. Dive Professional Program

This program is a prerequisite for the Divemaster program. Up on successful completion of this program student will carry the most coveted and respected certifications in diving (NAUI Master Diver). This program includes a leadership level certification courses designed to train and qualify persons to train and issue certifications in Skin (breath-hold) Diving. This training will allow the instructor to offer courses to individuals, schools, camps, or similar groups. This program concludes with the Assistant Instructor Leadership course where they will be authorized to assist Scuba Instructors increasing their student to instructor ratio thru apprenticeship. The Divemaster Program  

Completion of the Divemaster program is a perquisite for the SCUBA Instructor Program. Additionally you will complete the CPR Instructor course and be eligible to teach the Basic Life Support: CPR and First Aid (BLS). During the divemaster portion of this program your abilities to organize and supervise scuba diving activities, while concentrating on developing teaching and personal dive skills will be challenged. Candidates will have the opportunity to work with real students building on the instructor candidate’s skills while focusing on developing their instructional abilities.  You will work with redundant air sources and increase your preparedness to handle accidental decompression incidents. SCUBA Instructor Program

Continue your professional education and personal marketability by completing this Challenging upper-level program the PADI Tec Instructor course.  Your knowledge of diving science will be vastly expanded, and your diving abilities greatly improved.  This rigorous program of studies provides you with new opportunities in the world of diving and opens previously unreachable dive sites. You will work with actual students in many different roles to ensure you are prepared to lead in the Dive Industry. See Page 29 of our catalog for detail information about this Program.

Public Safety Diver Program

Continue your professional education and personal marketability by completing this upper-level program. Many public safety dive teams conduct urgent rescue dives to save lives.  The knowledge to rescue safely and efficiently someone is irreplaceable in the public safety diving community.  Through a series of rigorous lessons, you will gain invaluable knowledge about public safety diving from skilled professional public safety divers. You will learn safe techniques to recover bodies, weapons, stolen articles, and vehicles.  Throughout these program, you will gain valuable experience in diving in zero-visibility environments, as well as in law-enforcement evidence recording, recovering, and packaging. Technical Instructor Program

The most coveted title in the dive industry. Once a student completes this upper-level instructor program, they may independently teach sanctioned courses and authorize certification for their graduates. An active-status Instructor may independently conduct recognition and experience programs and authorize formal recognition for scuba diver thru Divemaster’s. They can teach anywhere in the world. Gas Blender Tech Program

This provides the dive industry professional with the necessary knowledge to work with and around compressed gas systems. Student will be certified as an air station operator, Nitrox Gas Blender, and Trimix gas Blender. These systems are in place in every dive shop or dive boat. This is a specialized skill that few have the training to do safely. Everyone in the dive industry has certain special skills, this program will give you the knowledge to succeed in this profession. This program will teach you how to clean breathing gas systems, safely fill cylinders, maintain the transfer systems, perform partial gas blending, use continuous flow blending, booster pump blending and safely mix any custom blend of diving gas. In addition to inspecting cylinders, students learn how to clean them to oxygen service standards, service and repair cylinder valves and conduct hydrostatic cylinder tests on cylinders that require them.
